Erin is a musician and activist, currently finishing her master’s degree in musicology at the University of Southampton. She is at the start of their career in academia/arts administration, focusing on EDI, community arts and how to make music education accessible to all. Her research throughout both her master’s and undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford has focused on social class inequalities in classical music – which she is fascinated by and passionate about advocating against. Their voluntary involvement is wide-ranging, working with Music Master’s, the Musicians’ Union, Create Music and the Centre for Music Education and Social Justice to promote meaningful equity and inclusion. She co-founded the RETUNE Project in 2023 to tell the stories of underrepresented music and musicians through concerts, events and accessible resources. Meanwhile, they are looking forward to starting a position as Equal Access Network Administrator at Film London, where they can explore more implementation of EDI in practice across the arts, before hopefully bringing these skills back to music later in her career.
