Chris Guenault
Director of Programmes & Partnerships and Designated Safeguarding Lead
Chris oversees our national programmes and partnerships that support young musicians across the UK. Originally from Lancashire, he studied bass trombone at the Royal Northern College of Music, where his passion for music education began.
Chris has built a career as a music educator and leader, working with organisations including In Harmony Opera North and Live Music Now. He now works with over 35 partners nationwide and, as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensures the wellbeing of every young person is at the heart of Future Talent’s work.
Instrument: Bass trombone
What are you currently listening to: I’m in a nostalgia phase at the moment, bouncing between Britpop favourites (Pulp, Oasis, Blur, The Verve and James) and Disney soundtracks.
Favourite Future Talent moment: The 20th Anniversary Concert at the Roundhouse. It was the first time I’d been involved in a production of that scale behind the scenes, and it was inspiring to work with such a brilliant production team. Most of all, seeing our young musicians rise to the occasion and deliver an incredible performance made all the hard work worthwhile.
Favourite food: Anything Italian (especially pizza) or a proper pie. It’s got to be fully enclosed in pastry to be a proper pie!
Spends spare time: Trying to keep up with a toddler and listening to music.
