Earlier this year, you may have seen two of our talented alumni musicians appear in the BBC Young Musician 2018 award. Violinist Elodie Chousmer-Howelles gave a beautiful performance of music by Bach, Ponce-Heifetz and Ravel in the string category finals in Birmingham. Elodie, who was supported by Future Talent in 2016-17, is now studying at Junior Royal Academy of Music, as well as being a 2018 LPO Junior Artist. She is hoping to study in America next year for her undergraduate degree.

Saxophonist and 2016 Future Talent Coombs Scholar Rob Burton, performed in the competition finals on 13 May 2018 where he gave an outstanding performance of Paul Creston’s Concerto for Saxophone Op. 26. He is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music, London and recently performed a recital at the Cheltenham Festival.

Both Rob and Elodie, in the lead up to the televised finals, performed their competition repertoire to other Future Talent musicians and Fledglings in an inspiring musical showcase.
